Since introducing ColorThink Management software from CHROMIX in late 2017, it has put a new spin on adjusting color. Part 3 of our series details how this software helps for plotting the target color against the color range that our presses are capable of achieving.
ColorThink requires very specific information to be calculated to determine the best approach for matching client-supplied specific colors. By eliminating any guesswork, the application determines from the start an educated path to pursue these colors, says Prepress Manager Paul Studzinski.
“We make adjustments to the color breaks until the colors are within the parameters presented to us from our clients. This adjustment and output process occurs as little as one time, to as many as six times with the more difficult colors/tolerances.”
Studzinski rates grey values as the most challenging adjustments.
“Greys are the most difficult to adjust color for because a one percent move away from your target color can completely change and misdirect you in a hurry. The ColorThink application illustrates or shows where your color is, as well as where it needs to go or how far off the color being worked on actually is.”
